David Carmo: Braga Defender Nears Completion of Transfer to FC Porto
Highly Rated Defender to Bolster FC Porto
The Primeira Liga champions have reached an agreement with league rivals Braga for the transfer of 22-year-old central defender Carmo, which will see the central defender sign a five-year contract in the coming days, with the relevant medicals booked in and personal terms already agreed.
The announcement of the transfer should happen in the next 24-48 hours, with Carmo becoming a Dragon and signing a contract until June 2027. With the departure of Chancel Mbemba, FC Porto are keen to reinforce their defence making his impending arrival a timely one for the club in preparation for their title defence, and another Champions League campaign at the Estadio do Dragao.
The Portuguese defender was recently called up to the national squad by Fernando Santos but did not see any game action. The Braga defender would give the national team a more imposing presence in defence, with it surely only being a matter of time until he wins his first international cap.

What David Carmo Will Bring
Carmo is an imposing defender who wins the majority of his aerial duels, making him a vital weapon for defending and attacking set-pieces. His ability to defend first will have undoubtedly appealed to Conceicao and Santos, making the promising defender a wanted man.
He loves to impose himself on opposition strikers which often sees him flying into 50/50 tackles. Carmo is comfortable in possession with his passing being one of his best assets, alongside his reading of the game, which enables him to break up opposition attacks effectively.
His stature and style of play has grabbed the attention of clubs around Europe, with Manchester United reportedly interested in the Braga defender, but FC Porto have stolen a march on other interested clubs as they look set to complete the signing of Carmo in the coming days.
