Arsenal correspondent at Goal, Charles Watts, has reported that negotiations for the transfer of Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal have hit a critical stage. The Manchester City man scored and assisted during their 5-0 demolition of the Gunners last season, being one of a host of impressive performers on Pep Guardiola’s team.
The North London side are pushing to make the Brazilian the first high-profile departure from the Premier League champions as early as this week.

What’s the Latest on Jesus’ Transfer?
Arsenal target Jesus is looking for a move away to cement his place as the main man, especially with an eye on the World Cup in Qatar this winter. London seems his most likely destination as there has also been interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but it seems Arsenal are the frontrunners at the moment.
The 25-year-old’s representatives travelled to London to discuss his transfer away from the Etihad, and it’s believed there is hope between all parties that a move can be sealed to Arsenal soon.
City value Jesus at around £50 million, which is a reasonable fee for a striker with Premier League experience in the current market, despite the player only having one year left on his contract. Arsenal have reportedly made an opening bid of around £30 million, which was rejected, but they are likely to make a second attempt closer to the Citizens’ valuation.
Jesus is one of a few City players nearing the door with Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko also linked to a transfer away from Manchester, while Bernardo Silva could make way if Frenkie de Jong joins Manchester United.
Arsenal Pushing for More Additions This Week
The Gunners are set for another busy summer as Mikel Arteta continues his rebuild of the squad. They have already announced one addition from Brazil, and are hoping to add two more before the start of preseason.
Alongside Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal are hotting up their interest in Leeds United forward Raphinha – they may have to bat off Barcelona to secure his services though.

Their pursuit for Youri Tielemens is taking a back seat as they focus on deals for Brazilian forwards it seems.
Fabio Viera is another exciting prospect who will add to Arsenal’s growing Portuguese-speaking contingent once his move is confirmed. Porto have already made the announcement but Arsenal fans await confirmation of the midfielder in red and white.
