Manchester City Defender Prepared to Leave Club

Manchester City defender Oleksander Zinchenko is prepared to leave the club, according to Fabrizio Romano. City are targeting Marc Cucurella, a left-back who will essentially replace Zinchenko. Everton is keeping tabs on Zinchenko, as well as a number of other clubs.

Manchester City Defender Ready to Depart

A Solid Option

City began registering interest in Cucurella in May, signaling a possible Zinchenko departure. Although many may see leaving a club like City as a downgrade, Zinchenko remains a special talent.

This past season, the player registered four assists in 15 Premier League outings. He wasn’t an every-match starter, but Zinchenko always provided solid and reliable depth. For a club competing to win multiple competitions, such as City, Zinchenko was a fantastic utility player to have off the bench.

He’s more of a left-back, although Zinchenko is versatile enough to play multiple positions. In the past, he’s also played as a central midfielder, right midfielder, left midfielder, and attacking midfielder. In short, he can do it all when called upon.

Zinchenko, although with City for multiple years, is still only 25-years-old. He has yet to reach his true prime years. He’s also one of the main faces for the Ukrainian National Team. Zinchenko already holds 52 senior caps to his name to go along with eight goals. Ukraine narrowly missed out on qualification for the upcoming 2022 World Cup, but Zinchenko helped guide them very far. He’s as experienced and as reliable as they come and will help any club.

City are always busy when it comes to transfers, and Zinchenko is not the only player rumoured to depart.
