Paris Saint-Germain Interest in Italian Striker Grows

The Paris Saint-Germain interest in Gianluca Scamacca is growing as the club has made an offer to Sassuolo, according to Gianluca di Marzio. The offer was for €35 million plus bonuses, but Sassuolo is holding strong to their demand of €50 million.

Negotiations are continuing, however, between new PSG director Luis Campos and the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci.

A Rising Talent

The 23-year-old Italian striker has succeeded in Serie A and continues to grow. This past season he scored 16 goals in 36 appearances for Sassuolo. His improvement was massive as the season prior he scored eight goals in 26 appearances for Genoa. He played more matches this past season, but still doubled his scoring output.

PSG has had a recent history of heavy interest in both Italian players and Serie A players. As of now, Marco Veratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma are the current Italian stars in Paris. They’d likely allow for a smooth transition for Scamacca. Other players PSG have purchased from Serie A include Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Mauro Icardi, and more.

If the move were to happen, there would be a logjam in PSG’s attack. They already have stars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe. Then there’s the aforementioned Icardi, whose fit with the club has always been in question. Angel di Maria is there as well, although he looks set to leave.

Campos, however, has proven success looking for young talent. He did it with Monaco and Lille, so surely PSG trusts him with making decisions on transfers such as this one.
