AC Milan v Inter

The AC Milan v Inter Milan battle to decide the Scudetto winner in Italy will be one for the ages. Currently, there are three matches remaining for both sides. Milan are first in the table with 77 points, whereas Inter are second with 75. The Rossoneri also holds the season’s head-to-head advantage should the teams finish equal with points.

Remaining Schedule for AC Milan

Milan just beat Fiorentina 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Rafael Leao. A draw or loss could’ve been detrimental to the team’s Scudetto hopes, but Milan proved to be clutch.

The three remaining matches come versus Hellas Verona, Atalanta, and Sassuolo.

Verona is the “easiest” match on paper, although the team can cause trouble. Milan, namely centre-back Fikayo Tomori, will have to be at the top of his game to contain striker Giovanni Simeone. He has the third-most goals in Serie A this season with 16 in 33 matches. One slip-up can lead to dropped points for Milan.

Atalanta is always a tough match-up. They’re eighth in the table this season, although they also had the Champions League to contest. Atalanta are struggling domestically compared to years previous, but the squad remains very talented. They have talent on all sides of the pitch, including Rafael Toloi, Marten de Roon and Duvan Zapata.

Finally, Sassuolo are 11th in the table. Sassuolo, however, always cause trouble for Milan. Domenico Berardi has been fantastic this season and will be auditioning for a possible summer move on the biggest stage v Milan.

Milan will be facing three strong attacks. Yes, the defence will have to be wary, but Milan’s attack is equally important. They’ve struggled to find the back of the net in April but will need goals to get all three points in these matches.

Remaining Schedule for Inter Milan

Inter beat Udinese 2-1 right after Milan’s victory over Fiorentina. This keeps Inter right in the thick of things after their costly loss to Bologna last week.

The next three Serie A matches for Inter come versus Empoli, Cagliari, and Sampdoria.

Empoli are 14th on the table. Their defence has been a mess all season long, but they have a reliable forward in Andrea Pinamonti. Inter will have to contain him.

Cagliari are in 17th. They will be playing with added pressure versus Inter as they look to avoid falling into the  relegation places. For Inter, this game is increasingly looking like a “trap game.” Cagliari has a fantastic forward in Joao Pedro and he will do everything he can to keep Cagliari afloat in the first division.

The last game comes against Sampdoria, who sit in 15th place. Sampdoria are led by Francesco Caputo, a 34-year-old striker who continues to deliver in Italy.

When looking at the standings, Inter lays claim to the easier schedule coming up. With that being said, they will have to secure victories while hoping for Milan to falter.

Two of Italy’s biggest rivals battling it out till the last matchday for the Serie A crown sets up a finish for the ages.
