Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Barcelona Deal Back on

Aubameyang Barcelona

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Barcelona deal to sign Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back on. The deal will see the forward sign for six months, plus a year after that. If a deal is finalised, it will bring an end to Aubameyang’s time in North London.

Barcelona will now look to agree personal terms with the forward, something that reportedly ended in failure the first time around. According to Ornstein, salary became the biggest issue when negotiations were first attempted. Barcelona’s financial struggles are no secret, and it was reported that, unless Barcelona found major money, the deal was off.

Now just hours later, things have somehow come full circle, and Aubameyang once again looks likely to make the move.

Medical to Take Place

As we know from earlier attempts, the deal is far from done. Aubameyang still needs to reach an agreement regarding his contract. One positive, however, is that a medical is set to take place tonight. All the signs suggest that the Arsenal forward will be a Barcelona player before the end of the night, but anything can happen on Deadline Day.

Aubameyang instantly improves the Catalan giants, who are slowly trying to build a better squad. Likely replacing Luuk de Jong, the Gabonese striker can add a different dynamic to the frontline.

Where De Jong is more of a target man, Aubameyang will get in behind and is far more mobile. Considering the way that Xavi likes his teams to play, Aubameyang will be an instant upgrade. As things stand, Barcelona sit outside of the top four in La Liga by a point. The signing of Aubameyang, if it is finalised, may eventually result in a much-needed Champions League finish.

Come the end of the season, the deal could look like adequate business.
