Manchester United Talent Alvaro Fernandez Staying at Club Despite Loan Interest

Alvaro Fernandez

Manchester United talent Alvaro Fernandez has been subject of loan interest from the Championship, PA chief football writer Simon Peach reports.

Fernandez, 18, is among the most impressive talents in Manchester United’s u23s side.

It looks as though, despite the interest, he will be remaining with the Red Devils for the remainder of the season at least.

Deadline Day Consideration

As with deadline day, clubs are out there looking to get those last-minute deals over the line and Fernandez has emerged as a late loan candidate. The full-back, who operates best on the left-hand side, will likely leave Manchester United on loan sooner rather than later, however, it’s fair to issue a reminder that he is just 18-years-old and there is plenty of time on his side for him to develop.

Fernandez joined United from Real Madrid in 2020 and, having come out of Los Blancos’ academy, was of course expected to possess considerable potential. The Spain U19 international has been showing all the right signs, including an eye for goal.

He has scored six goals across the U18, U19 and U23 levels for United, assisting a further ten in the space of 52 games.

Fernandez has played most of his games – 38 – within the U23 setup.

Earlier Interest From Spain

Fernandez is clearly catching the eye for clubs looking at taking some of United’s best talents on loan. He was linked with a return to Spain earlier this month when Jonathan Shrager reported that a La Liga 2 club had registered an interest in taking him on loan this month. Nothing seems to have come to fruition on that front either but it shows that clubs are looking and it won’t be long before United decide it’s for the best.

Frankly, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him given his senior Manchester United debut in the next year or two either.
