Fantasy Premier League 2021/22

Covid Creating Havoc Once Again

We thought matches being postponed due to Covid were behind us but sadly that is not the case. Tottenham Hotspur were forced to postpone the Europa Conference League match against Stade Rennais due to 13 persons testing positive for Covid. Their match against Brighton on Sunday is also likely to be postponed. On the other hand, Leicester City have also had a few of their players and playing staff test positive. In fact, seven players have not travelled to Naples for their Europa League match. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic has also tested positive for Covid. So, things are definitely not ideal and FPL managers need to have as many starting options on the bench as possible.

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 16: Fixtures to Target

Norwich City v Manchester United

Ralph Rangnick decided to change all 11 players that started on the weekend for the Champions League match against Young Boys. As a result, assume the ones rested will start barring any late injuries. Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are all good options whereas Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles seem to be the starting fullbacks. The next five fixtures are quite good for Manchester United. So, this is a good time to bring some of their players in. Ronaldo is a decent shout for the armband as well.

Liverpool v Aston Villa

Steven Gerrard returns to Anfield with his Aston Villa side winning three out of the last four games. However, Liverpool dropping points here seems unlikely. They are in sublime form and should find a way to get the three points. It may not be a big win though.

Manchester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester City are also in great form and top the table at the moment. Bernardo Silva and João Cancelo were rested for the midweek Champions League loss and should start this one. Bernardo Silva has been in magnificent form recently. Wolves are solid at the back but a clean sheet seems unlikely. Once again, a tight game is on the cards.

Chelsea v Leeds United

Chelsea should have no problems against a Leeds United side decimated with injuries. Kalvin Phillips is a key player for Marcelo Bielsa’s side and without him for the next couple of months will be very difficult for them. Chelsea could start with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner up front after they both scored against Zenit. Mason Mount is in good form whereas Marcos Alonso and Reece James are decent options as well.

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek 16: Things to Consider

With West Ham United having some nice fixtures coming up, some of their players are worth considering. Michail Antonio is the obvious one but he has not produced the attacking returns this season with only one assist in the last six games. Jarrod Bowen has two goals and four assists in the same period and could provide a decent midfield option.

Three out of Arsenal’s next four fixtures look nice on paper but look at their current form and question whether they can get the wins.

Overall, should keep the free transfers in hand and wait for confirmations about fixture postponements.

Captaincy Options

As usual, Mohamed Salah remains a great option for captaincy but Cristiano Ronaldo is a very decent alternative this week.
