AC Milan are top in Serie A, three points above Napoli but have played one more fixture in the race to win the Scudetto. They’re also ten points ahead of Inter Milan, 12 points ahead of Roma, and 13 points ahead of both Atalanta and Juventus. The Champions League hasn’t been quite as kind, with Milan sitting bottom of their group zero points from three matches. Regardless, they’re still not mathematically disqualified. Now, AC Milan fixtures show a tough stretch of matches from October 31 to November 24 in both competitions.
AC Milan Fixtures Proving a Tough Run Ahead
The Champions League
Milan have lost to all three of their opponents. Of course, this sounds rough. Their opponents have all been very good teams, however, including the likes of Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Porto. It’s also Milan’s first Champions League experience in quite some time, meaning the players are not very experienced or previously had no experience at all. With that being said, Milan’s squad is talented so more was expected. Perhaps Round of 16 qualification is nearly out of the question, but clinching third and moving onto the Europa League remains a possibility.
The Rossoneri play Porto on November 3. Porto are in third place after beating Milan in their last match-up. Realistically, this is Milan’s most winnable fixture. On November 24, the Italian club play Atletico. The previous game was filled with controversy but Atletico walked away with three points. Milan can’t afford a loss in either match if they want to fight for third place at the very least.
Serie A – AC Milan’s Bread and Butter
As great as Champions League qualification was, Milan’s top (and more realistic goal) is to truly compete for the Scudetto. They’ve shown the ability to do so. There’s a tough couple of games coming up, but Milan was just handed a boost with the return of Theo Hernandez.
On October 31, Milan will take on Roma. I Giallorossi are in fourth place and are enjoying a decent domestic run under Jose Mourinho. A team managed by him, with talented players such as Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini, is always a threat. Their defence has also been on par to Milan’s, so Milan will need forwards such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leao to be at full strength in this match.
After Roma, the next domestic match comes against Inter Milan. This, of course, is the Derby della Madonnina and one of the most heated rivalries in all of football. All bets get put aside as truly anything can occur in a match like this. Inter are third in the league and have shown some flaws defensively. Their attack, however, is truly one to fear featuring the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa, and Edin Dzeko.
The last domestic match in this run comes away at Fiorentina. They’re currently seventh in the league with the same amount of points as Atalanta and Juventus. Fiorentina haven’t dazzled, but they’ve been very solid thus far. They also hold one of the top strikers in the league in Dusan Vlahovic. Once again, this won’t be an easy matchup but represents Milan’s most winnable match in this schedule.
