Real Betis’ William Carvalho Could Be Option for Norwich City

Norwich Struggling to Replace Oliver Skipp

One of the key players in manager Daniel Farke’s team that earned promotion from the Championship at the end of the 2020/21 season was Oliver Skipp, who was the club’s player of the season during his loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur. Proving just how good he is, the midfielder has since become a key part of Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans, leaving Norwich with a gap in their midfield that they are struggling to fill.

Norwich are reported to be in talks with Real Betis over a loan deal for Portuguese midfielder Carvalho, who made 27 La Liga appearances last season, in which he scored twice and was involved in three assists.

Carvalho has been linked with moves to the Premier League before, but no move has materialised, and he has now made 70 appearances in the league since joining Real Betis in 2016 for €16 million.

Carvalho has a winning attitude and was part of the Portugal team that won the 2016 European Championships. He also made two appearances at the 2020 championships but Portugal failed to defend their title after being knocked out by Belgium in the last 16.

Farke and Norwich have started life back in the Premier League with two heavy defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City respectively and, although they have added Billy Gilmour on loan from Chelsea, Farke really wants a more combative midfielder that can shield his backline and Carvalho is a player he would like to bring in before the summer transfer window closes on August 31.
