Valencia have entered the race to sign centre-back Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea, according to Goal’s Chelsea correspondent Nizaar Kinsella.
The 22-year-old has had an impressive pre-season for the European Champions, which has caught the eye of the La Liga club.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is open to sending Chalobah on loan and is set to strongly consider promoting the England U21 international to his first-team squad next season.
Valencia Looking to Sign Trevoh Chalobah on Loan
Chelsea Looking to Create Space for Jules Kounde
According to Kinsella, Chelsea want to free up space as they look to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. The Blues are looking to sell Kurt Zouma for between £20 and £30 million, as well as loaning out Chalobah.
The 22-year-old has featured heavily in pre-season and impressed in his loan spell at Ligue 1 side Lorient last season. Tuchel certainly feels he has a big future at Chelsea as he has told the hierarchy not to sell him at any cost.
However, sending him on loan will benefit Chalobah in the long term. Also, it is a chance to get first-team football which will be pivotal for his development.
Chelsea are keen to find Chalobah a club that will use him as a centre-back instead of in midfield. It appears that Valencia are willing to do that.
Likely Chelsea Departures
There is likely to be a number of Chelsea players departing before the end of the transfer window. Tammy Abraham has been linked with Arsenal, Atalanta and Roma in recent weeks. However, none of the clubs are willing to pay the £40 million asking price.
Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri could also be heading out of Stamford Bridge. Also, Kenedy, Matt Miazga, Davide Zappacosta, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Ross Barkley are all on the transfer list.
Meanwhile, young striker Armando Broja has joined Southampton on loan.
