According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will be ready to swoop in with a proposal for Martin Odegaard if Real Madrid decide to sell the midfielder this summer. The Norwegian international is considered the Gunners’ number one target in attacking midfield despite complications surrounding the possibility of a deal.
Admittedly, however, prying further talent away from the Bernabeu this summer will likely be a hard task. The Spanish giants have already waved goodbye to their best defensive partnership in Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos, and they’ll be desperate to avoid further exits.
If Odegaard forces a move, the situation could change. In truth, it is down to Carlo Ancelotti where the midfielder’s future lies. If Ancelotti hands him game time, Odegaard will undoubtedly stay; hand him a place on the bench, however, and he will likely depart.

Do Arsenal Need Another Attacking Midfielder?
With Emile Smith Rowe tied down to a new long-term contract, the question rises as to whether Arsenal even need another attacking midfielder, especially when their striking options remain so poor.
Of course, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has had some standout seasons, that’s undeniable, but he has more than fallen away from his best form. As for Alexandre Lacazette, the Frenchman just isn’t consistent enough in front of goal, leaving the Gunners short of options. So perhaps it’s not the supply line that’s broken; instead, it may well be those tasked with finishing the chances further forward.
And that creates a big problem for Mikel Arteta. He clearly wants to focus on securing an attacking midfielder, but he can’t afford to ignore the growing problem within his squad. An attacking midfielder will add depth, but perhaps to a position which needs it the least.
If Real Madrid remain firm on their decision to keep Martin Odegaard, then Arsenal should shift their focus to elsewhere.
