Alexander Isak’s Real Sociedad contract, which has been renewed until 2026, eliminates Borussia Dortmund’s previous buyout clause of €35 million. It ensures the Swedish international is a Sociedad player unless a bigger, more worthy offer comes in for the forward. And make no mistake about it, there will be a day when that offer comes. It will likely present a sum simply too good for Sociedad to turn down as a smaller club.
The fact is, Isak is on a path to enjoy incredible success, such is his always-improving forward play. At the age of 21, the Real Sociedad forward is already hitting numbers similar to that of a clinical striker. He is both Sweden and Sociedad’s main man, scoring a total of 17 goals for his club last season.
Alexander Isak’s Real Sociedad Contract Eliminates Dortmund Clause
Isak Would Have Been on Dortmund’s List of Haaland Replacements
Having just waved goodbye to Jadon Sancho for an initial fee of €90 million, Dortmund are unlikely to let Erling Haaland go in the same summer. Instead, similar to Sancho, the Norwegian will likely have one more season at the club before leaving. That gives the club a year to draw up a shortlist of potential replacements; a list Isak would have been on before his new contract eliminated the aforementioned buyout clause.
Luckily for the forward, however, time is on his side. Alexander Isak’s Real Sociedad career will likely come to an end one day; that big move will come. But, whilst still in Spain at such a young age, the Swedish international should develop even further. Sometimes, the key to reaching such great heights in football is patience. And Isak seems to have that in abundance.
Whilst still wearing the famous blue and white of Sociedad, Isak will be hoping to propel his side into the top four after a fifth placed finish last campaign.
