Premier League Clubs Keen on Thomas Delaney
Number of Clubs Interested
Crystal Palace, Southampton and Norwich City are among the clubs who have shown interest in Delaney. The Danish international made 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season. He also made seven appearances in the UEFA Champions League.
The 29-year old has started every game for Denmark at the Euros. He is a key player for his country as Denmark prepare for a quarter-final game. Delaney is also an important player for Dortmund. He missed a big chunk of games at the end of the 2019/20 season but was mostly injury free last season.
Crystal Palace are in a season of change. Patrick Vieira looks set to arrive as their new coach, while a number of players have their contracts ending. Delaney is an experienced player who has ample experience in a top league and in Europe. Southampton have had a poor season. They will be looking to improve their performance next season. James Ward-Prowse was a shining light, but he needs more help. Norwich, meanwhile, are just returning to the Premier League. They are looking to add some quality.
Contract Ending Soon
Delaney joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2018. He signed a four-year contract after a reported transfer fee of €20 million was paid to Werder. He came on as a 74th-minute substitute as Dortmund won the 2020/21 DFB Pokal. He has made 86 appearances so far in a Dortmund shirt.
He is now in the final year of his contract. Dortmund are likely to be in a season of flux. Jadon Sancho is leaving for Manchester United, while Erling Haaland may or may not leave this season. Delaney might join them soon in exiting the Westfalenstadion.
