Young Defender to Arrive as Bruno Lage’s First Signing
Bruno Lage is set to secure his first signing since being appointed Wolves boss. The Portuguese 45-year-old arrived at Molineux on June 9 and is due to welcome Mosquera to Wolves.
The 20-year-old has had interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and Club Brugge, but has chosen the Black Country to be his new home.
According to The Telegraph’s John Percy, the talented central defender will transfer to Wolves for a fee of around £4.5 million.
At just 20 years old, Mosquera remains relatively inexperienced with senior men’s football, with just 16 appearances to his name in the Colombian Primera A.
Experienced Defender Linked With Move to Premier League Rivals
Everton hope to sign central defender Conor Coady from Wolves, according to Football Insider. The Toffees’ hopes in signing the 28-year-old, however, rely on former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo being appointed at Goodison Park.
Nuno has reportedly been in talks over a move to Merseyside and Football Insider claim that a deal could be wrapped up within days.
If that is successful, they claim that the Portuguese manager will look to persuade Coady to leave Molineux for a new beginning at Goodison Park.
Coady, a former Liverpool academy product, has become one of the most reliable central defenders during his time under Nuno and may be drawn towards the prospect of further development.
He has been an ever-present in the Wolves squad for the last four years and, as a result of his continued form, signed a new five-year contract last September to extend his stay at Molineux until 2025.
Whilst the arrival of Mosquera will not be a like for like replacement, the potential departure of Coady may force the 20-year-old further up the pecking order.
