Dani Ceballos to Leave Arsenal When Real Madrid Loan Ends

Dani Ceballos

Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos is to return to Real Madrid this summer to reincorporate himself under manager Zinedine Zidane, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Dani Ceballos to Leave Arsenal

Arsenal Set to Lose Dani Ceballos Upon End of Loan From Real Madrid

The 24-year-old midfielder has been on loan with The Gunners for the past two seasons. In that time, he has figured in 75 games and scoring two goals. However, he is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

The midfielder’s form has been very inconsistent, with the Spaniard showing glimpses of the talent he has to offer. But, he has struggled to show his top form on a consistent basis. Ceballos recently got himself sent off in Arsenal’s Europa League defeat to Villarreal, to cap off a disappointing recent spell. However, he is ever-present in their European games with 11 games this season. He favours the continental style to the Premier League, where has not got to grips with its pace and power.

However, on his day, Ceballos is a confident and astute box-to-box player. A player who likes to pressure the opposition who is full of heart, desire, athleticism and a great vision of the game. Ceballos has international honours with 11 appearances for the Spanish national side and a solitary goal since making his debut in 2018. He also was part of Spain’s U21 tournament victory in Italy in 2019 where he was in the Team of the Tournament.

What Next for the Midfielder?

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano added that the decision on his return to Real Madrid arrived some time ago. The next step will be that the midfielder will assess his future before making a decision. His Real Madrid manager will no doubt want to take a look over him before making a judgement.

During his time in the Spanish capital, Ceballos has not had a look in to showcase his talent. His arrival heralded a new youthful era with Ceballos the teams’ new midfield conductor of their orchestra in replacing Luke Modrić. However, things did not work out and he has played in just 56 games in all competitions for Los Blancos, with five goals. Clearly, Zidane has thus far been unconvinced of Ceballos potential on the biggest stage possible.

Yet, with Real Madrid cash-strapped and light in terms of player numbers, this could prove another opportunity for the midfielder to kick-start his Real Madrid career.

A Return Back Home

Dani Ceballos first came to prominence with Spanish La Liga outfit Real Betis Balompié. He came through the ranks of the Seville based club to debut with the first team in 2013. There, his career began to blossom, becoming a regular in the squad. He went on to make nearly a century of league appearances. In total, Ceballos played 105 games, scoring seven goals.

His consistent form caught the attention of both Barcelona and Real Madrid, and it was Madrid who won his signature in the summer of 2017. The club paid €15 million for his services and the player signed a bumper six-year contract.

Yet he has been regularly linked with a move back home. Just recently, he posted a tweet celebrating seven years to the day he made his debut for the club. Another nod to a potential return? In addition, with Real Betis potentially playing in the Europa League next season, a move could suit both parties.
