Norwich City are celebrating having been promoted to the Premier League after Brentford and Swansea City dropped points.
Brentford and Swansea City Drop Points to Send Norwich City to the Premier League
Canaries Lose On the Day but Results Elsewhere Sends Them Up
Despite a 3-1 home loss to AFC Bournemouth, results elsewhere earlier in the day meant Norwich City were promoted to the Premier League.
The Canaries needed just two points from their final five matches to win promotion back to the top-flight.
Brentford’s goalless draw with Millwall and Swansea City’s 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers meant the Canaries were promoted.
Norwich had taken an early lead as Emi Buendia scored after five minutes, but Dimitrios Giannoulis was sent off just over ten minutes later.
The visitors took control with the man advantage in the second half, however, as Sam Surridge, Arnaut Danjuma and Lloyd Kelly found the net.
Asked afterwards whether he was excited for the challenge ahead, Daniel Farke said: “Yes, of course, but first of all it is important for us to feel the joy and also to enjoy it.
“If you are already, after every success, thinking about the next step then you will lose your motivation.
“It is important to celebrate and enjoy yourself a little bit when it is deserved.
“The planning is, of course, underway. I think we will be in a much better position than two years ago. We will be trying our best to stay in the Premier League.”
He added: “After a year of relegation, you get used to losing games. We had to change the whole mentality. The lads have done fantastically, but we have to make sure everyone stays focused.”
The Norfolk side has been regular features in the top-flight, competing in the Premier League for six of the last ten seasons.
