Port Vale Sign Will Swan On Loan From Nottingham Forest

Young Forward Links Up With League Two Side to Continue Development

The academy graduate heads to Port Vale to continue his development. The move has been completed after Glenn Murray joined the Midlands club earlier on deadline day.

Murray’s arrival at the City Ground means Swan, who made his first-team debut against Swansea City last November, has dropped down the pecking order.

With Lyle Taylor, Lewis Grabban, Miguel Guerrero and now Murray all providing senior experience, the move to Vale provides Swan with an ideal opportunity to develop.

Swan has no Football League experience aside from a handful of cameo appearances for Forest. The pacey forward made his first-team debut late last year but has shown his ability within Andy Reid’s U23 side.

He has scored goals for fun for the Professional Development League table-toppers and has looked a tricky individual to mark in his brief appearances.

Loan Move Gifts Swan Opportunity to Continue Development

A loan move to Vale provides Will Swan with the ideal opportunity to continue his development.

The 20-year-old was gifted the opportunity to impress Chris Hughton within the first-team picture due to an injury to Grabban; however, with the experienced forward returning to full fitness, regular playing time is looking limited.

Ipswich Town had been linked with the forward earlier in the window, but that move fell through with the tractor boys preferring Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott.

Now is the chance, nonetheless, for Swan to prove his ability and get regular playing opportunities. Loan moves have proved beneficial for a number of Forest academy players, including Brennan Johnson and Jordan Gabriel, now it is Swan’s turn to show his true worth.
