West Ham United Biding Their Time in Search for a New Striker

West Ham United are biding their time in their search for a new striker, according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath. They hold an interest in Danish striker Jonas Wind but may hold off on a move for him.

The Hammers are considering all the options available as they enter the final week of the transfer window. They are looking to replace the departed Sebastien Haller but may wait until the summer to do so.

Copenhagen Striker Jonas Wind Remains a Long-Term Target

West Ham are enjoying an excellent season, collecting 32 points from their first 19 games. That is their best ever return at this stage of a Premier League season.

The Hammers are looking to enhance their forward options following Haller’s departure. His move to Ajax has left West Ham light in the forward areas with Michail Antonio their only recognised striker.

They had been extensively linked with Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri but that appears to have gone quiet. The Morocco international is joint-top scorer in La Liga with Luis Suarez. His price is rising after he netted a hat-trick against Cadiz at the weekend. Sevilla have quoted a fee out of the Hammers’ price range.

West Ham are long term admirers of Copenhagen striker Jonas Wind. The 21-year-old knows how to find the net, scoring five times in nine league games for Copenhagen. He has a decent goal return overall netting 19 goals in 53 league matches. However, despite their long-term interest, West Ham could wait until the summer to move for him.

A striker is likely to be West Ham’s prime objective if they are to do business in the final week of the transfer window. Their league form has been excellent and that may sway Moyes from adding to his squad.
