Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, whose contract runs out in 2023, stated his desire to stay at Liverpool, telling TV2: “I want to stay as long as I can. It is in the hands of the club. I will always give 100 per cent to the last minute I am in this club.”
Despite these comments- according to the Daily Mail- Liverpool are yet to make plans to offer the two-time Golden Boot winner, Mohamed Salah, a new contract. The 28-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in 2023 when he is 31.
And, with an improved offer on the table reportedly wanted, Liverpool may struggle to find the logistics behind offering Salah a new contract at this moment in time.

As things stand, Jurgen Klopp’s contract at Liverpool is set to run out in 2024- coinciding with the Salah contract running out in 2023 alongside Sadio Mane’s, Virgil van Dijk’s, Roberto Firmino’s, Fabinho’s, Naby Keita’s, Jordan Henderson’s and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
That’s potentially eight departures of key players if Liverpool fail to begin contract negotiations. And, whilst there will be no rush when considering 2023 is two years away, the club must solve the contract conundrum before it becomes a serious problem.
The Premier League champions already look resigned to losing Jurgen Klopp in 2024, so ensuring a new manager does not enter during a transitional period must be the key.

The top clubs around Europe have always stayed top because of their ruthless ability to refresh and revitalise a squad when needs must. And, with the Liverpool squad slowly ageing, and contracts coming to an end, maybe it’s time for those at Anfield to bare their ruthless side.
Maybe it’s time to plan for the future; to ensure Liverpool’s moment at the top is not just a two-season thing, but instead a constant feature at the club.
