Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that winger Nathan Redmond is set to miss Sunday’s game at home to Manchester United.
The Austrian confirmed that the player is struggling with a hamstring injury which saw him miss his sides 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers as a precautionary measure.
The one time English international has been an ever-present in the Southampton side since joining the club in 2016.

Hasenhuttl’s Comments on Redmond’s Injury
Speaking after his sides draw against Wolves on Monday evening, Hasenhuttl said: “It will be seven to ten days so for Sunday, I don’t think so.
“It was a small injury but definitely a hamstring injury.
“It has not been his best season so far. He has had problems with his body and this is definitely a player that we will miss.”
Struggling With Injuries
Despite being an ever-present in Hasenhuttl’s side, injuries have meant the Englishman has only started three games this season. He has also only completed the full 90 minutes on two occasions.
After playing the first game of the league season, he missed the following two games after going down injured against Brentford in the EFL Cup.
He then helped Southampton to wins against West Bromwich Albion and Everton before being an unused substitute against Aston Villa. Since the Villa victory, he has only seen 16 minutes of action and, after missing the Wolves game, it looks like he’s heading for a couple more weeks on the sidelines.
Southampton’s Good Start to the Season
Despite missing the winger on Monday evening, the Saints made it seven unbeaten in the Premier League to move into fifth in the table.
The Hampshire based side started the season poorly, losing their first two league games to Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup to Championship side Brentford.
However, the Saints’ fortunes changed and since losing to Spurs, they have not been defeated, winning five and drawing two. They were also momentarily top of the table after beating Newcastle United 2-0 at the beginning of November.
