Frenchman Looking to Rediscover Form in La Liga

Griezmann joined Barcelona in 2019 from Atletico Madrid in a £108 million deal but has struggled to rediscover the form that convinced Barça to part with a significant amount of money.

In 58 appearances, Griezmann has managed 17 goals and five assists, but his performances have come under criticism from many fans as he looks to re-establish himself as one of the worlds best.

What Griezmann Said

Speaking with former Argentina striker Jorge Valdano on the Movistar + channel, Griezmann said: “When I arrived in Barcelona, which I had refused a year before, there could be comments even in the dressing room. But I wanted to apologise, if necessary, on the pitch.

“I spoke with Leo (Messi) when I arrived and he told me he was wrong when I refused to go to Barca the first time because he had made public comments, before that I refuse. But he told me he would give anything with me and that’s what I notice and feel every day.”

But relations became strained when Eric Olhats and his uncle spoke of his difficulties with the Argentinian. Griezmann added: “I have not had a relationship with Eric since I got married. He did not come to my wedding, I was very angry, he is not my advisor and I have no relationship with him.

“Since no one around me speaks, he thinks like everyone else and can do a lot of damage. This can create doubts in the locker room and in my relationship with Leo (Messi). Luckily Leo knows I have a lot of respect for him, I’m learning from him. And then my uncle, who doesn’t know what football is. I told Leo that I don’t had nothing to do with them.
