Luton Town have completed the signing of Joe Morrell from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old becomes the fifth summer signing for the Hatters, and the third Welsh international to put pen to paper at Kenilworth Road. Morrell, who was on international duty, returned back to England before tonight’s game with Bulgaria due to suspension.

Despite not featuring at all in Bristol City’s start to the 2020/21 campaign, Morrell will suit the Championship. He is a player who will never shy away and constantly demand the ball. He has a terrific work ethic and will not give the opposition a moment’s peace. Additionally, he possesses a creative flair that can turn defence into attack within a second.
The Welsh international spent last season with League One outfit Lincoln City. A beneficial spell to Morrell’s learning that saw him wins the club’s Player of the Year award. His performances for the Imps, earned the 23-year-old a chance with Wales. An opportunity that has now turned into Morrell being an integral part of Ryan Giggs‘ starting XI’s.
A Striker Still Wanted at Kenilworth Road
Despite the positive reactions from Luton fans when rumours first emerged about Morrell’s signing, a striker still seems to be required. The work James Collins has done and continues to do has made him a key player for Luton Town over the years. However, an alternative option to the former Crawley Town man is wanted at the club.
The Hatters have not been linked with a forward this transfer period, and whether they will make a move before Friday remains unseen.

Speaking to the club website, Morrell said: “It takes a good football club for me to leave Bristol City and I feel like I’ve certainly got one here, that is for sure.
“I’m really excited. It was always going to take a fantastic opportunity for myself to leave Bristol City.”
