Busy Start to the Season
Spurs’ packed fixture schedule to kick off the campaign has forced manager Jose Mourinho to heavily manage his squad.
Lo Celso has featured in five games for Spurs so far this season. But the injury ruled him out of the squad for the recent 6-1 Premier League drubbing of Manchester United.
An injury briefing by the Argentine Football Association revealed the midfielder will miss the Albiceleste’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers with a left thigh injury.
Lo Celso’s injury is the same muscle problem that occurred during training with Spurs.
The midfielder is to return to North London where the Spurs medical team will further evaluate the extent of the problem.
Chance to Recover
Spurs will be hoping Lo Celso’s thigh injury will be minor as club football pauses over the next fortnight.
The Argentinian will now have the opportunity to recuperate as Spurs are recovering from a tough fixture schedule. The likes of Son Heung-min, Tanguy Ndombele, Gareth Bale and Dele Alli will all remain at Hotspur Way over the international break.
Lo Celso has emerged as a key player for Spurs since arriving in North London on an initial loan from Real Betis in August of last year.
The midfielder scored twice in Spurs’ 7-2 victory against Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League playoff which secured the club a spot in the group stage.
