Manchester United have had a loan offer for Ismaila Sarr turned down by Watford, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It is believed that United had enquired for the Watford man this morning. However, the club rejected the offer as they would rather sell the forward permanently than loan him out.
Manchester United’s Loan Offer for Ismaila Sarr Rejected
Ismaila Sarr Has Been a Wanted Man
Ismaila Sarr was involved in nine goals for Watford last season, scoring five and assisting four. Sadly, though, his contributions up front weren’t enough to stop the Hornets’ relegation to the Championship.
Sarr has already featured twice for the club this season but has caught the eye of a few Premier League clubs, including champions Liverpool and, of course, United.
Watford won’t let Sarr go on the cheap. After signing him last Summer from Rennes for £30 Million, the club are looking to recouperate that money. It was reported by The Telegraph that a price tag of £40 Million has been put on the winger, should they let him go before the transfer window shuts tonight.
Quiet Transfer Window for Manchester United So Far
It’s been a somewhat frustrating window for United fans as Donny Van de Beek has been the only acquisition so far. Following the 6-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, United have had to react in the transfer market.
They look close to signing striker Edinson Cavani, who is to join on a free transfer, as well as full-back Alex Telles from Porto.
But United have been keen on bringing in a winger this window. Jadon Sancho had been the club’s primary target, but it looks like he will remain with Borussia Dortmund.
United also turned to Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele today. But like Sarr, they only want him on loan, while Barcelona are only interested in a permanent transfer.
