Fulham are close to signing PSV Eindhoven centre-back Timo Baumgartl. The German defender completed his medical at the club last night according to reports from Peter Rutzler of The Athletic.
The West London side are also in negotiations with Ligue 1 side Lyon over signing Joachim Andersen on a season-long loan.
Scott Parker has been desperate to sign a centre back during the transfer window. It now appears two defensive additions could be heading to Craven Cottage.
Fulham Close to Signing Timo Baumgartl and Joachim Andersen
Loan for Baumgartl
The deal to bring Baumgartl to Craven Cottage is reportedly a season-long loan with a view to buying permanently at the end of the season.
Twenty-four-year-old Baumgartl joined PSV last summer from Bundesliga side Stuttgart for €10 million. The German U21 international made 22 appearances for the Dutch club last season. He also featured in the Europa League group stages.
Deal Close for Andersen
The Cottagers are also close to signing Joachim Andersen. The West London club and Lyon are reportedly negotiating a loan deal for the Dane to join Fulham on a season-long loan.
Lyon signed the 24-year-old defender from Sampdoria in 2019 for €24 million. He impressed for the Serie A side but struggled to make an impact for the Ligue 1 side.
Since his move to France, Andersen has not recaptured the same form he displayed in Italy. Andersen played 32 games for Lyon last season but only made 18 league appearances all season.
Good Signings for Fulham
After a difficult start to their Premier League campaign, a double defensive signing for Scott Parker will alleviate some of his concerns.
Fulham have lost all of their opening four league games this season. The Cottagers have also conceded 11 goals in four games and sit bottom of the Premier League after losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.
