The Deal

PSV announced via their website they had signed the defender. Rodriguez arrives on loan for the remainder of the season ready to get some much-needed game time.

Rodriguez arrives as PSV’s first January signing. The Swiss international replaces the departed Toni Lato, who was recalled by Valencia and eventually loaned to Osasuna.

The Swiss international has fallen down the pecking order at AC Milan since Theo Hernandez’s arrival in the summer. He is looking for game time ahead of Switzerland’s Euro 2020 campaign.

He has been the regular Swiss left-back since making his first international appearance in 2011.

The 27-year-old has already been replaced at AC Milan, with Antonee Robinson expected to join from Wigan Athletic. Rodriguez made a name for himself at VFL Wolfsburg making 149 appearances for the Wolves scoring 15 goals. That terrific spell earned his move to Milan, but he has struggled to recapture that form.

He has made 74 appearances for Milan scoring once. The arrival of Theo Hernandez limited his game time. He is ready to seize his chance at PSV.

The full-back is renowned for his excellent crosses, set pieces, heading ability and dynamism on the flank. He is an excellent signing for PSV with their season proving majorly disappointing.

They are well behind Ajax in the title race and went out of the Europa League in the group stages finishing bottom of the group.

He could make his PSV debut against Ajax on Saturday in a crucial game for both clubs.

AC Milan Confirm His Departure

In a statement on the Milan website, the club confirmed: “AC Milan announces that Ricardo Rodríguez has joined PSV Eindhoven on a temporary basis.

“The club wishes the player all the best for the rest of the season.”
