Sheffield Wednesday Sign Josh Windass on Loan

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Josh Windass from Wigan on loan. The striker scored four goals in 15 appearances for the Latics and will ply his trade in Sheffield for the latter half of the season. He leaves Wigan with the club in the relegation zone and will add to Wednesday’s squad depth in attack.

Sheffield Wednesday are only five points away from the play-offs and will hope that the addition of Windass will boost their chances of qualification.

Incomings at Wigan

Wigan have also made three signings on deadline day. They have added Alex Dobre, Leon Balogun and Jan Mlakar to their squad. The club find themselves in a relegation battle and will be hoping their January additions can help them secure their championship status.

Balogun is a defender who featured eight times for Brighton and Wigan will be hoping he can help shore up a defence which has conceded 44 times in 29 games. He is not the only player who Wigan have signed from Brighton. They have added forward Jan Mlakar to their ranks. The 21-year-old featured six times for Queens Park Rangers in the first half of the season, though Brighton recalled him in January before sending him to Wigan.

Finally, Wigan have also signed Alex Dobre from Bournemouth. The 21-year-old midfielder joins the Championship side on loan as he seeks to prove himself worthy of Bournemouth’s first team. He has previously had loan spells at Bury, Rochdale and Yeovil Town.
