Harry Wilson to Leeds is on

Harry Wilson to Leeds United: Announcement Imminent

Harry Wilson to Leeds United on a free transfer was agreed on June 29, signing a four-year deal following the expiry of his Fulham contract. However, the club have still not formally announced the new arrival, leaving Whites fans scratching their heads as they await confirmation of what would be a real coup for the club.

Harry Wilson to Leeds United Latest: Deal Set to Be Announced

What Do We Know So Far?

Leeds initially pursued the 29-year-old last summer, with both Wilson and the Yorkshire side signing a deal sheet in the eleventh hour of deadline day to prevent the transfer from falling through. However, Fulham chose not to sign the paperwork, meaning the Welsh international remained in West London for another season.

Almost a year later, Leeds have agreed to sign Wilson on a free transfer, with the attacker rejecting several new contracts from Fulham in favour of a move to Elland Road. With ten Premier League goals and seven assists last season, by far the best return of his career, the 29-year-old is a real coup for Daniel Farke’s side as they look to build on last season’s impressive 14th-place finish.

Wilson has signed a contract until June 2030, and will be the club’s first signing of the transfer window. The Whites beat sides across Europe to Wilson’s signature, including Champions League teams, and fans are eagerly awaiting his announcement.

When Will Harry Wilson to Leeds Be Announced?

Although the club have so far been completely silent on Wilson’s move, it appears that an official announcement is imminent. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth, fans won’t have to wait much longer for official confirmation from the Whites.

When asked on X on July 6 if the deal would be announced that day, Smyth said: “Not today. Middle of the week I think.” He confirmed that the deal was ‘over the line’, and that the official announcement and media duties would be completed this week.

For Whites fans, there will always be a slight sliver of doubt until the Welshman is pictured in a Leeds shirt, but there is no expectation that the deal could possibly collapse.

What Will Wilson Bring to Leeds?

Harry Wilson stands alongside Welsh teammates, including Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon.

After Wilson notched ten league goals and set up seven more, many Leeds fans would have expected their hopes of signing the Welshman to be over, so it represents a real bargain for the club to pick up such a high-level player for free. As a left-footed playmaker who can play both centrally or on the right wing, Wilson brings a different profile to Leeds, and is a clear upgrade on Brenden Aaronson, who managed four goals and five assists in 37 games last season.

The Fulham man also brings some much-needed dead-ball prowess to Farke’s side, adding a left-footed option for corners and free-kicks. Whilst Anton Stach is an exceptional free-kick taker, Leeds have lacked a left-footed player capable of matching his set-piece quality, so adding Wilson to the mix gives Leeds a real advantage.

Although not a young player at 29, the winger joins at the peak of his powers, and will add a raft of top flight experience to the Leeds ranks. With 69 caps for his country and 17 international goals, the Wrexham-born forward already has close relationships with compatriots Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Daniel James, so has all the tools to hit the ground running in Yorkshire.
