Wolves Eye Move for International Midfielder

Wolves have identified Hajduk Split midfielder Niko Sigur as a potential summer signing, according to Sky Sports News. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise over the past 18 months, establishing himself as one of the Croatian club’s standout performers and becoming an important member of Canada’s national team after an impressive run at the World Cup. The West Midlands club are understood to be keen on bringing the defensive midfielder to Molineux, with Sigur expected to command a fee in the region of £2.5 million.

Wolves Target Versatile Midfielder Niko Sigur

A Breakout World Cup Performance

Sigur’s reputation received a big boost during the recent FIFA World Cup, where he impressed throughout Canada’s campaign. Although Canada were eliminated by Morocco in the knockout stages, Sigur was one of Jesse Marsch’s standout performers. His composure in possession, defensive intelligence and ability to play in multiple positions caught the attention of several European clubs.

The midfielder has now earned 22 senior caps for Canada, having previously represented Croatia at youth level before switching his international allegiance. His versatility has been one of his biggest strengths, with Sigur capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, right-back and even as part of a back three when required

An Affordable Addition

Financially, Sigur represents a relatively low-risk investment. With Hajduk Split reportedly willing to sell for around £2.5 million, Wolves could secure one of Canada’s brightest young talents for a fraction of the fees being paid elsewhere in the market.

Across 98 appearances in Croatia’s top flight, Sigur has contributed five goals and five assists while consistently demonstrating his defensive awareness and tactical discipline. Sigur’s athleticism and tactical flexibility could allow him to provide cover in several positions throughout a demanding Championship season.

While Wolves appear to be among the clubs showing concrete interest, they may not have a free run at Sigur after his impressive World Cup performance. Should a deal be completed, the Canadian international would arrive at Molineux as an exciting young player looking to establish himself in one of the most demanding leagues in Europe. Could Sigur be a part of the Wolves Championship rebuild?
