Wolves goalkeeper José Sá is attracting interest from Turkish giants Besiktas as speculation surrounding his future continues to grow. According to Express & Star journalist Liam Keen, discussions have already taken place with intermediaries over a potential move for the Portuguese international. However, Besiktas has not yet made an official approach.
Keen also reports that several clubs across Europe have expressed an early interest in signing the 33-year-old, who is expected to leave Molineux during the summer transfer window. With Wolves continuing to reshape their squad under new head coach César Peixoto, Sa appears to be one of several experienced players who could depart ahead of the Championship season.

Wolves Goalkeeper José Sá Attracting Interest From Besiktas Ahead of Potential Summer Exit
Wolves Career Coming to an End
Sá arrived at Wolves from Olympiacos in the summer of 2021 following the departure of Rui Patrício. He enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in the Premier League, quickly establishing himself as one of the division’s most reliable shot-stoppers with a series of match-winning performances.
Over the following seasons, the Portugal international remained Wolves’ first-choice goalkeeper despite competition from Sam Johnstone following the England international’s arrival from Crystal Palace in 2024, and despite a particularly poor start to the 2025/26 season. Sá regained his starting position and has continued to provide valuable experience between the posts.
However, fan sentiment has begun to sour, and it’s probably best for all parties if he moves on. Now in the latter stages of his career, a move abroad could offer regular football while allowing Wolves to continue refreshing their squad.
Interest From Across Europe
While Besiktas are currently the latest club linked with the goalkeeper, they are far from alone in monitoring his situation. Keen’s report states that several clubs from across Europe have registered an interest, although none have formally approached Wolves at this stage. That suggests any transfer remains in its early stages, with negotiations yet to progress to club-to-club discussions.
Given Sá’s experience in the Premier League and with Portugal at international level, he is likely to remain an attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced goalkeeper this summer.
Wolves Goalkeeper Jose Sa: His Premier League Stats
Since arriving at Molineux in 2021, Sá has been one of Wolves’ most consistent performers.
- Fans & Players Player of the Season 2021/22
- 160 appearances
- 37 clean sheets
- 64% save percentage
- 14245 minutes played
Beyond the numbers, Sá has consistently made crucial saves in tight matches and has often been one of the more experienced members of the leadership team.
As it stands, Wolves have not received an official bid from Besiktas, meaning Sá remains a Wolves player as preparations for pre-season continue.
However, with multiple European clubs monitoring his situation and expectations growing that he could leave this summer, there is likely to be more developments once the World Cup is over. Should Besiktas decide to formalise their interest, Wolves will then need to find a replacement for their number 1 going into this Championship season.
