Burnley vs Wolves

Burnley vs Wolves Latest News and Predicted Lineups

Burnley vs Wolves on Sunday is a Premier League fixture that has taken on a grim edge, with both clubs already relegated and now effectively fighting to avoid finishing bottom of the league. While there is no survival on the line, pride and final positioning remain the only real targets as two of the Premier League’s worst performers meet in a meeting that reflects how difficult the campaign has been for both sides.

With Wolves rooted to the bottom and Burnley also confirmed to be heading back to the Championship, this is less a survival battle and more a scrap to avoid finishing last. Both teams have struggled for goals and consistency throughout the season, and this meeting at Turf Moor offers one final chance to take something from a disappointing campaign. Here is the latest team news and predicted lineups.

Burnley Team News

Burnley will go into the final game of the season without Jordan Beyer and Josh Cullen due to injury. Manager Mike Jackson has admitted they are waiting on a late fitness test for Maxime Esteve. Connor Roberts, who has missed the entire season due to an Achilles injury, played 45 minutes for the U21S last week and may be in contention to make the squad. Jackson said during his pre-match press conference

“We can’t change what has happened this season, but we can affect how we leave it, and I think that’s the biggest thing for us going into this game on Sunday.

“Nobody wants to finish bottom of the league, and that’s our full focus. Getting a result for the fans and giving them a performance to be proud of.”

Wolves Team News

Matt Doherty and Sam Johnstone are Wolves’ only injured players and will otherwise have a full-strength squad going into the final game at Turf Moor. During the pre-match press conference, Rob Edwards had this to say on facing Burnley:

“We go into every game with the intention to win. Both teams will want to win, and we want to perform and win the game. We want to try and finish well.”
