Every Chelsea Player Announced for 2026 World Cup Squads
Nicolas Jackson & Mamadou Sarr – Senegal
The controversial finalists of the 2026 African Cup of Nations, Senegal are the latest nation to announce their squad and they have taken two Chelsea talents. Young centre-back Mamadou Sarr came back from a loan to Strasbourg in January but didn’t play much. He is joined by Nicolas Jackson who is heading back to Stamford Bridge after a loan with Bayern Munich.
Malo Gusto – France
While Wesley Fofana failed to make Didier Deschamps squad, right back Malo Gusto made it into the squad for the 2022 runners up.
Mike Penders – Belgium
Attending as the third-choice goalkeeper Mike Penders impressed enough in his stint with Strasbourg to earn a spot in the Belgian squad. While he will not unseat Thibaut Courtois, this represents a great opportunity for the youngster to train in a competitive environment.
Enzo Fernandez & Valentin Barco – Argentina
The 2022 World Cup champions Argentina, are on a hot run of form and Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez is a core part of their tactics and winning ways. It comes as no surprise that the former Benfica man has been included in the preliminary squad for his nation.
Alehandro Garnacho has also tentatively been included in the bloated preliminary list but may not make the cut for the final squad after having an inconsistent year for the team after making a move from Manchester United. Update: Garnacho did not make the final 26 man squad.
One name who did is Valentin Barco, currently of Strasbourg but expected to move to Stamford Bridge soon, even getting the Here We Go treatment from Fabrizio Romano. The former Brighton man can play as a full back or in midfield if needed.

Marc Cucurella – Spain
Luis de la Fuente has currently only announced a 55-man preliminary squad but Marc Cucurella is there. The left-back was a regular for his country as they won the Euros and will likely make the final list and head to America to play a key part for his nation.
Pedro Neto – Portugal
The former Wolves attacker has been a regular for the Blues all season and has found himself as a consistent part of the Portugal setup. Despite some strong competition on the wings he has kept his spot as a regular under Roberto Martinez
Moises Caicedo & Kendry Paez – Ecuador
One of the last manager’s to get their squad in, the national team has taken star player and key midfielder Moises Caicedo. The midfielder is as important for his nation as he is for his club thanks to his alien-like ability to cover ground and win tackles.
Young attacker Kendry Paez has also been taken to the tournament despite a disappointing year that saw him stutter in Strasbourg and for River Plate. Despite that, he still has some trust from his international manager.
Jorrel Hato – Netherlands
Having been a starter for Ajax for years, it comes as no surprise to see the versatile defender involved in Ronald Koeman’s squad for the tournament. Capable of playing as a left back or centre back, he will have some invaluable experience representing his country on the biggest stage.
Reece James – England
Surprisingly, only one of the three names Chelsea fans expected to see suit up for the Three Lions, Thomas Tuchel has opted to take Reece James to the tournament, having won the Champions League together in 2021. Both Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill have been left out.
