With their dismal season now over, Leicester City turn their attention to another summer of change. Like last year’s transfer window, the Foxes will be desperate to offload their high earners and valuable assets. This time, the likes of Harry Winks, Abdul Fatawu, and Jeremy Monga could be heading for the exit door. Victor Kristiansen could also be on his way out, especially after his recent reflection on being in England’s third tier.

On the Move: Victor Kristiansen
As reported by Oscar Valdorff Kjeldsen, Kristiansen could be one of the many players set to leave. “I didn’t sign with Leicester to be a League One player,” he said.
The left-back has had a peculiar three-year stint in Leicester, which wasn’t expected when he initially arrived. The Dane arrived from FC København in the winter of 2023 in what was a record-breaking deal for the time. Despite this, his efforts weren’t enough to prevent City from falling to a shock relegation.
The following season, he left on loan to Bologna. Under Thiago Motta, he helped the Italian side to reach the Champions League, though he wouldn’t be kept on permanently. This led to his return to City, where he could once again have a chance to play Premier League football. He featured 30 times in the league, as Leicester once again succumbed to relegation. By the end of the season, he had even been replaced by Luke Thomas, suggesting his struggles with form.
In his first season in the Championship, he once again couldn’t maintain a run of games. A pre-season injury immediately left him on the sidelines, and every time he returned, he found a new injury. In the end, he appeared just six times all campaign, which makes a move away from Leicester all the more likely. A move back to Copenhagen could be next on the cards, with the player stating, “I have a lifeline in there.”

How Does Victor Kristiansen Leaving Affect Leicester?
It’s fair to say that Kristiansen’s time in LE2 hasn’t been the best. A lack of quality and consistency has seriously marred his spell, but at just 23 years old, he could still develop. Last season, former Leicester player Matt Piper gave his thoughts on the full-back. He said, “I do like Victor Kristiansen. He is energetic, he has got all the passion and endeavour, he gets up and down the pitch, but he just lacks quality in certain situations.”
In terms of his future, a move away could help him reach the heights that he was once destined for. We have seen on numerous occasions how players like Ayoze Perez or James Justin have flourished upon leaving Leicester, could Kristiansen be the same? He’s already shown he can perform in a league like Serie A so there should be plenty of suitors. From a Leicester perspective, they need to make the most of their sellable assets, especially if they don’t want to be at the club and can’t perform. Cashing in seems like the only option this summer.
