Manchester United in Talks Over Striker’s Future With Preference Revealed

Manchester United finished 15th in the 2024/25 Premier League season, with just 42 points. Ruben Amorim has made key signings this summer and will be eager to improve on recent years. One big money signing in recent seasons was Rasmus Hojlund, but it appears the Dane is headed for the Old Trafford exit. Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United have informed Napoli of the deal options available, with their preference also revealed.

Manchester United Struggles and Summer Rebuild

Man United Reveal Deal Options and Preference for Club

The signing of Benjamin Sesko seemingly decided the future of Hojlund was destined to be away from Old Trafford. The Old Trafford club have informed Napoli they are open to both a loan with an option to buy or an obligation to buy. However, Hojlund has reportedly made it clear he wants to join a new club who have an obligation to buy so he can feel complete confidence from the buying club and feel more secure in his future.

The opening day defeat to Arsenal was disappointing for the club, but there were plenty of positives to take away. They applied plenty of pressure in the second half and were unlucky not to get a draw. Hojlund did not make Amorim’s squad for the opening day game, and if there was any hope he might stay, that was extinguished when United named their squad.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Danish striker, but he has shown flashes of class at Old Trafford, and a move to a new league could just be what the 22-year-old needs to fulfill his potential.

Manchester United Attack

As the season progresses, it’s difficult not to see Sesko leading the attack, being supported by Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo. The United squad had many holes to fill for this season, and Amorim has clearly prioritised strengthening the attack this summer, which he has done.

Unfortunately, the new recruits have seemingly helped bring a premature end to the Manchester United career of Hojlund.
