Team News, Form and Prediction as Oxford United Welcome Colchester

Colchester played out a 1-1 draw at Oldham at the weekend, which was the same scoreline as their opening day fixture against Tranmere.

The U’s could be without several players for this game, although Rowett was likely to rotate anyway. Elliott Moore was forced off with concussion, while Brian De Keersmaecker has joined the injured contingent, which includes Przemyslaw Placheta, Ciaron Brown, Ole Romeny and Luke Harris.

The visitors are without Ellis Iandolo and summer signing Dominic Gape, while striker Will Goodwin is cup tied as he is on loan from Oxford.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2003 when Colchester won 1-0 in the FA Cup. In fact, the visitors are unbeaten in the last three games against the U’s.

Predicted line-up: Matt Ingram, Hidde ter Avest, Peter Kioso, Sam Long, Jack Currie, Louie Sibley, Cameron Brannagan, Matt Phillips, Mark Harris, Leo Snowden, Tom Bradshaw.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-0 Colchester United
