Manchester United See Opening Bid Rejected by Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo

How Much Did United Offer for Mbeumo?

Sky Sports’ reporter Dharmesh Sheth has reported that the Red Devils have seen their opening offer to sign the Cameroonian forward rejected by the Bees. It’s added that the Red Devils had offered a fee of a guaranteed £45 million along with £10 million in bonuses, for a total fee of £55 million.

The reporter claims that Brentford have made it clear that they value the 25-year-old at over £60 million and that “negotiations are continuing” between the two teams. It’s also being reported that the Bees are pointing at the £62.5 million that the Red Devils paid to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves recently as a starting point for valuations. Despite that, Manchester United remain optimistic that an agreement will be struck and that a second bid is also expected to be made. It’s already been reported that Mbeumo has personally agreed on a deal to join Ruben Amorim’s side after his impressive heroics in the 2024/25 season.

What Can Mbeumo Bring to Old Trafford?

The Red Devils are pushing for the signing of Mbeumo after seeing him make some impressive contributions in the previous campaign. The Cameroonian forward was able to score 20 goals in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, as well as bagging eight assists. In fact, only three players in Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland outscored the 25-year-old in the previous term. He scored more goals than United forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed together (7) in the league last season.

Mbeumo has also proven himself as a versatile player. He’s naturally a right-winger, but also proved his quality to play as a second striker or centre-forward. He scored four goals in six matches as a centre-forward in the previous campaign. Since joining Brentford in 2019, the Cameroonian forward has 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances for them and has maintained impressive consistency

The 25-year-old has been hailed for his “incredible work rate” and ability to work hard by Brentford boss Thomas Frank and is likely to be a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils’ frontline if they’re able to get a deal done.
