Arsenal vs Manchester United Confirmed Lineups for August 17

‘Crazy Proposal’ Rejected as Manchester United Set to Keep ‘Indispensable’ Asset

Manchester United have had a torrid season, finishing in a lowly 15th place and losing the Europa League final (and Champions League football) in the final week. However, after the signing of Matheus Cunha it has also been reported that Bruno Fernandes will likely be staying at the club, as it seems the tides are turning for the Red Devils.

‘Crazy Proposal’ Rejected

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Fernandes has rejected a “crazy contract proposal” from Al Hilal, as the Saudi Pro League continue to try and poach Europe’s greatest players. This will come as a surprise to many Premier League fans as United currently look like a sinking ship, and yet the Portuguese international continues to stay loyal.

Romano discloses that Fernandes “wants to continue playing football in Europe”. He has reportedly made his decision on the matter, as he wants to play at the top level. However, this may suggest that a potential transfer across the continent could still be on the cards, as it could be disputed as to whether Manchester United are still at the top level.

Huge News for Ruben Amorim Rebuild

United have already kicked off the Ruben Amorim summer rebuild as they announced the signing of Cunha as the transfer window opened. Amorim came in partway through the season and so hasn’t had a great deal of time to implement his own philosophy, only signing one player in Patrick Dorgu in the January transfer window.

Keeping the “indispensable” club captain at Old Trafford for another season will be huge, as he is their best and arguably most important player, both in terms of creativity and work rate. Even off the field, this will be significant for morale and leadership, and United can continue to build the team around him.

It is almost surprising that the 30-year-old has turned down such a big money move, especially as the Red Devils are in such a dire state that doesn’t seem to be improving anytime soon. The midfielder continues to prove his loyalty to the English giants, as it seems that he is determined to help Amorim bring Manchester United back to their best.
