More Silverware On the Cards for Spurs
Tottenham fans will no doubt still be revelling in the joy of winning the Europa League. However, what they might not expect is some silverware for their club’s worst performance in their Premier League history.
What comes as less of a surprise is Guglielmo Vicario’s nomination for Premier League Save of the Season for his one-handed save to deny Jadon Sancho against Chelsea in April. The Italian shotstopper has been a great signing for the club, and despite Spurs conceding 65 goals in the Premier League, he deserves some recognition for his efforts this season.
But it is Yves Bissouma who is up for the more unusual award of the Premier League’s Oracle’s Most Powerful Goal. The goal was a combination of some of Spurs’ brightest stars who went on to play a crucial part in the 2024/25 campaign. Brennan Johnson cut in from the right wing, exchanging passes with Dejan Kulusevski, before drawing a tackle. This pushed the ball out to James Maddison, who gave it to Kulusevski to skip past a host of Everton defenders before laying it off for Bissouma, who was waiting on the edge of the box. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium already began to erupt as Bissouma’s effort hurtled towards the top left corner, dipped and then slammed in off the bar for the Malian’s first goal for the club.

Premier League Most Powerful Goal Explained
Oracle have laid out the parameters for how they sourced its ten most powerful Premier League goals this season.
They said: “This Premier League award recognizes the player whose goal-scoring shot had the highest average velocity from the time it was struck to the time it crossed the goal line, with the caveats that the strike was from beyond the box’s 18-yard line and was not deflected.”
Previous winners of the award include Fernandinho’s strike for Manchester City against Leeds United in 2021/22, which travelled at 73.1 mph. Said Benrahma and Moussa Diaby have also won the award with their most powerful goals reaching 66.59 mph and 68.25 mph.

Bissouma has had a mixed start to life in N17, but he played a vital role in helping Spurs to win their first major trophy in 17 years.
Spurs legend Chris Waddle said after the huge win against Manchester United: “Bissouma has been different class today. Under the previous managers, none of them wanted to play him. Today he has shown his technical quality, lacking in the finish though. But last week and this week he has been outstanding.”
Bissouma’s screamer is worthy of an award, and Spurs fans will be hoping there will be more to come from him.
