Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe should be back in the dugout to lead his side into a vital match against Ipswich following his recent struggle with pneumonia. With five games to go, nothing can be taken for granted against an Ipswich Town side who are all but relegated in the quest for the Geordies to secure vital points for Champions League qualification. Here is our Newcastle United predicted lineup.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Ipswich Town
How Newcastle United Lined Up Recently
Nick Pope has now reclaimed the goalkeeper’s jersey but will be angry at having conceded four goals to Aston Villa in their last outing. What he has in front of him – despite that heavy loss to Villa – is a reliable group of defenders in full-backs Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento as well as center-backs Fabian Schar and local hero Dan Burn. Schar will have a late fitness test after suffering a hamstring injury at Villa Park. If he fails to make it, Emil Krafth or Sven Botman could take his place.
Eddie Howe’s midfield three are a standout and one of the biggest reasons they are in the hunt to qualify for a place in next season’s Champions League. Bruno Guimaraes has had a superb season alongside Brazilian Joelinton. With speculation that Real Madrid may be interested in signing Italian Sandro Tonali this summer, participation in the Champions League is essential if the Magpies are to keep a hold of him.
Although he is now back to full fitness, Anthony Gordon may still have to wait to get back into the starting eleven. Jacob Murphy has been so consistent this season on the right-hand side, providing plenty of scoring chances for Alexander Isak. On the left, Harvey Barnes has rediscovered his best form since returning from injury and could keep his place at the expense of Gordon.
Newcastle United’s Recent Form And Tactics
Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall have opted for a flexible 4-3-3 this season and it’s a system that serves them well. Losing to Aston Villa was their first defeat in six so there will be no panic on Tyneside but the very nature of every point being so crucial with just five games to go leaves them with no room for any slip-ups. Emil Krafth or Sven Botman could step in for Schar if he doesn’t recover from a hamstring injury.
Newcastle United Injuries To Consider in Predicted Lineup
The most welcome recovery is that of manager Eddie Howe, back to full fitness after his bout of pneumonia. Sven Botman, Lewis Hall, and Jamaal Lascelles are still on the sidelines. Interesting to see if Fabian Schar has recovered from a hamstring problem in last weekend’s loss to Aston Villa.
