Chelsea Face Competition From Two Premier League Rivals For ‘Very Confident’ Bundesliga Ace

Chelsea have opted to remain relatively quiet in the 2025 winter transfer window and only brought back Trevoh Chalobah from his Crystal Palace loan as the only noteworthy business. But it looks like they are in the hunt for a late move for Mathys Tel.

Which Clubs Are Competing With Chelsea For Tel?

The journalist has also claimed that Manchester United are looking to sign him on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. Moreover, it’s also added that Tottenham Hotspur have shown a desire to sign him permanently and that the Lilywhites’ director was in attendance in Munich during Bayern Munich’s Champions League game against Slovan Bratislava.

This comes after Romano had also reported that as many as seven different clubs have showcased an interest in potentially signing Tel before the end of the window. It’s clear that Chelsea face a pretty monumental task in their attempts to sign the 19-year-old to bolster their forward line.

What Is Bayern Munich’s Stance On Tel?

Bayern Munich have already confirmed that Tel has informed them of his desire to leave the club before the end of the transfer window. Their sporting director Max Eberl spoke on the matter, stating: “We spoke in December, and Mathys said he wanted to establish himself. Now he says he wants to leave (…) There’s no bad blood. I can understand him. I’ve rarely had so many clubs call me about a player before.”

The Bavarians signed the attacker from Rennes in 2020 for a reported fee of around £20 million and they are not going to think about letting him leave for cheap. The 19-year-old, who has been praised for being “very confident”, has zero goal contributions from 14 appearances this season but remains a hot commodity in the market.

Chelsea will probably have to produce a special offer to entice him to join them, doing which could help Enzo Maresca get more options in the left-wing and centre-forward positions, as the youngster can play in both roles with ease.
