‘Green Light’: Chelsea ‘Giant’ Close to Premier League Loan After Talks With Manager

The chaos at Chelsea continues to catch up with the club. One of their signings from the new regime, Axel Disasi, is already under fire and he is close to leaving the club for a short spell at Aston Villa.

Disasi Destined for the Midlands

In an exclusive update, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Disasi has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa and the deal is just up to the clubs now. Talks with Unai Emery were crucial to the “green light” from the player.

Disasi can play in multiple positions in a defense but there seems to be no room anywhere for him. Reece James and Malo Gusto are ideal options on the right of the back-four while academy prospect Josh Acheampong is ready to take on the challenge of first-team football. A fit Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo also added to the depth in central defence before the beginning of this campaign.

This dilemma has been “frustrating supporters” and has finally taken its toll on the defender.

Before the start of the 2023/24 season, Chelsea agreed to a £38 million transfer to sign Disasi from Monaco. That size of outlay often means a defender will be a big part of the plans for his new team, but it already appears that the Frenchman has fallen out of favour with his club in west London.

Chelsea Content to Disuse Disasi

Disasi’s last Premier League start was at right-back in a 2-0 defeat away at Ipswich Town. He gave away the ball before the second goal with a weak back-pass near the halfway line. It was another demonstration of the errant behaviour in possession that has drawn criticism in his time in England.

Since the start of the new year, the signs have been ominous around Disasi’s future with Chelsea.

Trevoh Chalobah has heeded the call from the club to end his loan at Crystal Palace and fill in as a central defender next to Levi Colwill. Romano also indicated that Bournemouth central defender Dean Huijsen is “high on the list” of signings that the board might bring in over the next summer.

A loan at Aston Villa could build back some of the reputation that Disasi forged in his home country.
