Chelsea Confirmed Lineup vs Crystal Palace for January 4

This is the Chelsea confirmed lineup for their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on January 4. The match is set to take place at Selhurst Park as the Blues aim to turn around a three-match skid that has seen them pick up just one point from an available nine. Recent head-to-head results indicate this should be an easy win for the top-half side.

Chelsea Team News

Robert Sanchez starts in goal behind a back line of Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, Josh Acheampong, and Malo Gusto. Moises Caicedo partners Enzo Fernandez in the middle of the field behind an attacking foursome of Cole Palmer, Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, and Nicolas Jackson.

Filip Jorgensen is on the bench alongside Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo, Renato Veiga, Reece James, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Christopher Nknku, and Marc Guiu

Notable changes

For the most part this appears to be the first choice eleven with injuries to Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana taking them out of commission. The one shock is the inclusion of Acheampong for his league debut.

It will be interesting to see how the back four shapes up but the Combham graduate is likely playing as a centre back alongside Colwill. We may see Cucurella pull in to make a back three with Acheampong moving to right centre-back, a position he should be capable of playing.

With Tosin on the bench, this may be a move by Maresca to replicate the relative solidity he had when Fofana and Benoit Badiashile were healthy. With his tall, agile profile, the young defender could be the partner Colwill needs to stop being vulnerable to transitions.
