Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a deal between Tottenham and Turkish side Galatasaray for the transfer of Colombian defender Sanchez is “official, confirmed,” with the transfer window in Turkey still open until September 15.

The journalist adds that the Lilywhites will receive a fee of around £8.1 million paid over the next five years for the centre-back’s sale. He adds that the 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Turkish side.

What Did Sanchez Achieve at Tottenham?

The 27-year-old Colombian defender arrived at Spurs in 2017 for a rumoured fee of £42 million after impressing at Ajax, where he was named their Player of the Season for the 2016-17 season. However, the Colombian struggled to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League and soon found himself turned into a rotational player under the multiple managers he played under in North London.

He only made 24 appearances for the Lilywhites last season – including starting just eight Premier League games. The 27-year-old was constantly criticised for being error-prone and even booed off by the Tottenham faithful in their 3-2 loss to Bournemouth at home. Spurs decided to fix their issues at centre-back by bringing in defender Micky Van de Ven to be Cristian Romero’s partner, seemingly sealing Sanchez’s fate at the club. He will be undertaking a new chapter at Galatasaray and will hope to reignite his career in Turkey after departing Spurs.
