‘I Think It Will’: Ange Postecoglou Hints at Major Tottenham Incoming

Tanganga

Tottenham have been making some changes both on the pitch and off the pitch. The North London club made some key signings on deadline day and sold some players as well. In the front office, club officials are looking to recover from the charges that were brought against owner Joe Lewis earlier this Summer. One of the roles that requires immediate attention is that of Director of Football.

Tottenham Coach Ange Postecoglou Drops Update on Search to Fill Role

Watch: How Ange Postecoglou can push for Europe.

Speaking in an Interview

While speaking to Football London, Spurs’ coach Ange Postecoglou said, “Yeah, I think it will [be sorted soon]. That’s definitely the club’s plan.” An essential role within the club, Tottenham went through the entire Summer transfer window without a Director of Football. The Greek-Australian coach, however, does not believe it affected them during their pursuit of signing key players.

Does Postecoglou feel like he needs someone in the director role? No. “I usually get my way with whoever I work with.” stated the 58-year-old. He admitted that there is little he can do about the situation, and that club officials will find the best person they can to fill the role. He did still say, however, that it is something he has strong opinions about.

Reports from May

Earlier this month Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic covered the situation with Tottenham and their lack of a Director of Football. The Englishman outlines how the director is supposed to support the role of the coach, especially when it comes to pursuing new directions that the team can go, especially the signing of key players. The London side made the risky choice, though, of signing a coach before a director.

The Liliwhite’s former Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, had to leave the club after failing to overturn a ruling in Italy that banned him from any operations for 30 months. The ban comes from the Italian’s time with Serie A giants Juventus and since his departure, Spurs have been on a careful but still frantic search to find a suitable replacement for this essential role.
