Medical Tonight: Journalist Has Just Dropped Big Update on £20m Transfer From Old Trafford

Manchester United Defender Now Expected to Be Out Injured for 10 Weeks as Injury Crisis Worsens - Luke Shaw

Manchester United and England goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been given permission to undergo a medical on Saturday night ahead of a move to Crystal Palace, according to Telegraph football reporter Mike McGrath.

This is corroborated by Laurie Whitwell, who reported on Saturday night that the goalkeeper was set for a medical before completing his move. In a big update, Whitwell revealed that the deal would be worth £15 million plus £5 million in add-ons, a figure of which the value was, until now, up for speculation.

Manchester United Give Henderson Permission For Medical

England goalkeeper Dean Henderson is about to end his twelve-year Manchester United tenure. This is according to several reports, including one from Mike McGrath.

The football reporter for the Telegraph revealed that United had given Henderson permission to travel to London and undergo a medical ahead of a move to Crystal Palace.

This development comes just a few days after it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Palace were indeed the front-runners to sign Henderson.

Henderson Looking for First-Team Football

Henderson came through the ranks with the Red Devils, joining the academy at 14 years old and then moving on to the fringes of the first team.

However, he could never quite establish himself as a regular between the sticks at Old Trafford and had several loan spells at other clubs. This includes making eighteen Premier League appearances for Nottingham Forest last season and earning his place as their number one before a thigh injury sidelined him from January until the end of the season.

The fit-again goalkeeper was then linked with a move back to Forest but that move became highly unlikely when the Nottingham club couldn’t agree a deal with United. USA goalkeeper Matt Turner then moved to the City Ground from Arsenal and it looked likely that Henderson would have to settle for life as number two to Andre Onana.

This latest development, though, means that Henderson will get the chance to compete with Sam Johnstone for the number one spot at Crystal Palace, pending a successful medical.

Deal Very Close

A full medical is the only thing standing in the way of Henderson completing a move to Crystal Palace, with Whitwell’s report among many others confirming that everything is agreed upon ahead of the completion of the deal.

Henderson’s transfer is, though, said to be contingent on Altay Bayindir’s move to Old Trafford.
