Harry Kane Sets Deadline for Bayern Munich Transfer

Tottenham Star Expects to Stay if Agreement Not Reached Soon

The Standard’s report states that Kane has “made it clear” he plans to stay at Spurs if he plays against Brentford in their Premier League opening game, as he believes it would be unfair on new manager Ange Postecoglou to leave after the start of the season.

However, his club have not set a deadline on talks and would be free to negotiate a deal to sell Kane, who is in the final year of his contract, until the transfer window shuts.

Representatives of the London side and Bayern met on Monday to negotiate a deal for the England captain, but the meeting ended with a sizable gap in the valuations of the player. Based on a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Bavarian side are understood to be preparing a new bid of around £85 million in total, whilst Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is insisting on a £100 million fee.

Despite reports that talks between Levy and Bayern’s chief executive and technical director were positive, the Spurs boss intends to persuade Kane to sign a new deal at the club according to Ben Jacobs.

Harry Kane Could Sign a New Contract if Bayern Transfer Talks Break Down

If the club icon remains in London at the start of the season, he is understood to be prepared to negotiate a contract extension, on the condition that his side make ‘significant progress’ under Potescoglou.

However, if club bosses decide to keep Kane and hope that they satisfy the striker’s desire for improvement, they risk the chance that he may negotiate a pre-contract agreement in January, allowing him to leave next summer for free.

The team have signed a highly acclaimed new manager and promising players James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario to bolster the attack and replace Hugo Lloris, respectively, Other than that, they have been largely inactive in the transfer window, with fans raising huge concerns about the strength of the defence.

Loanee defender Clement Lenglet has not been replaced and last season the defence was very reliant on the heroics of Cristian Romero. This is particularly concerning, as despite Romero’s exceptional defensive abilities, his aggression can translate into a lack of discipline at times.

If Harry Kane Joins Bayern, Who Could Spurs Replace Him With?

The Lilywhites are considering Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani to replace their striker should a deal be reached with their German suitors, according to Christian Falk. The attacker has an incredibly similar profile to Tottenham’s star man, at six-foot-two, he can be physical when needed and shows an exceptional ability to both finish and create chances for teammates.

Last season, the Frenchman registered 15 goals and 11 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances. However, there have not been reports of discussions between the two clubs over a deal so far and Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be interested in the striker.

If Kane chooses to stay, Spurs fans will have to face the prospect of losing their record goal scorer for free next summer. But should the club choose to sell their star player now, they will only have a short window to find a suitable replacement.
