Manchester United are in search of a striker this summer transfer window. One of the targets long linked with a possible move to Old Trafford is Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane

Erik ten Hag Addresses Harry Kane to Manchester United Rumors

The Red Devils’ Search for a Striker Remains a Hot Topic

Kane’s name has been in the rumour mill a lot this summer with connections to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. With Manchester United’s name lingering as well, manager Erik ten Hag was asked about their interest in the 29-year-old.

In response, the Dutch boss said: “I don’t talk about specific players who are under contract at another club”, breaking his silence on the reports.

In Kane, the Red Devils would receive a striker who they know is clinical. The England international scored 32 goals and provided five assists in 49 appearances across all competitions during the 2022/23 season.

There also wouldn’t be a need to adapt to the Premier League for Kane, who has one year left on his contract with Spurs. All the striker would need to do is familiarize himself with Ten Hag’s system.

Heading into the 2023/24 season, United cannot afford not to have consistent production from their striker. Ten Hag and co. will be playing in the UEFA Champions League along with their domestic duties, so the squad will need goals.

Are Manchester United Keen on a Younger Striker?

While Kane is arguably one of the best strikers in the Premier League, he’s reaching the end of his prime years.

Kane could play well into his 30s. However, landing a player who has yet to tap into their potential might be a better game plan to fill the striker role for United’s long-term future.

The Red Devils’ possible interest in a young goal scorer might explain why they have reportedly agreed to personal terms with Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund, per David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Fabrizio Romano also reports that Manchester United will prepare a bid for Hojlund, who Atalanta value at around £61 million.

Ten Hag likely wants a young striker to grow in a forward core with Marcus Rashford, who recently signed his contract extension, and Alejandro Garnacho.
