Fabrizio Romano Drops Major Liverpool Transfer Update

Liverpool Transfer Business Must Be Top-Knotch This Summer

Like many of their rivals at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool are set for a crucial summer.

After an immensely disappointing 2022/23 campaign which saw them miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time since the 2015/16 season, the Reds will be looking to bounce back next year.

Having lost the likes of James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the end of their contracts at Anfield this summer, Jurgen Klopp’s side desperately need to sign reinforcements to rejuvenate their starting lineup, and most importantly their midfield.

The Merseyside club have already acquired Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion in a fantastic deal, but certainly more new additions are needed in the midfield if they want to compete for the Premier League title once again in 2023/24.

This is where Fabrizio Romano’s most recent update comes in, with the Reds now set to complete another signing.

Fabrizio Romano Drops Dominik Szoboszlai ‘Bomb’

In his latest YouTube video, the transfer insider dropped a major “bomb” on the transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool.

Not only did he give his coveted “here we go” on the deal, confirming that it is virtually done, but he provided many extra details.

“After many secret meetings on the player side and club side…the Szoboszlai deal is now done,” Romano revealed.

“So, what happened? During the day, Liverpool tried to negotiate with RB Leipzig to propose different opportunities. Leipzig immediately said no to all the possibilities – maybe a package with some add-ons, maybe some percentage of a future sale – they always said no.”

“The clause was expiring [on the] 30th of June, around midnight. So for Liverpool, it was crucial to decide: in or out.”

“RB Leipzig were informed around 7 pm [that Liverpool were triggering the release clause], so the deal was completed between Leipzig and Liverpool in a very fast way.”

“The player already had direct contacts with Jurgen Klopp…He was dreaming of Premier League football – he was close to Arsenal a few years ago, and now he’s joining Liverpool.”

“They are planning the medical right now. Documents [are] already being exchanged, so congrats to Liverpool, because they have been very fast on this deal, and it was not easy.”
