‘Outrageously Gifted’ Star Snubs Newcastle for Liverpool as Reds Set to Sign Another Player

After acquiring Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion, it appears Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp will continue to add quality to his team in a major way. According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool will be activating the £60 million release clause of RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

Szboboszlai’s move to Liverpool has accelerated after the 22-year-old made his desire to join Liverpool over Newcastle United clear, Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy reports.

The Hungarian will offer a unique combination of offensive firepower and amazing work ethic. Leading his club in assists across all competitions this season, he also was second in total minutes played compared to his teammates: demonstrating the ability of the former RB Salzburg man to compete all year round on a consistent basis.

Furthermore, Szoboszlai provides a high level of energy on the pitch. Achieving 863 sprints, he is ranked seventh in all of the Bundesliga in that regard. As a manager who utilizes a gegenpressing tactic, Klopp will be thrilled to have a footballer who has the stamina and energy that the versatile technician possesses.

Versatility Equals Opportunity

Although he is known primarily for his efforts as an attacking midfielder, the ‘outrageously gifted’ player also has experience playing on both wings as well. If one of the Reds’ star forwards could not play, he can step in and fill the void. Additionally, the 22-year-old is still plenty young enough for the German gaffer to mould him into whatever role he wants him to play.

What a Successful 2023/24 Season Will Look Like

Although the 5th-place finishers failed to challenge for the Premier League title last year, it is entirely possible that their newest recruit could help rewrite the narrative for the coming season. While it will be difficult to rival the success of Manchester City, qualifying for the Champions League will certainly be an improvement. Who knows? Maybe they could win the Europa League along the way.
